Bridges at Wester Hailes (c) James Perry

During the excavations for the new canal channel through Wester Hailes one of the original bridges was recovered after years hidden in the embankment on Dumbryden Road. Hailes Bridge, number 5, was reinstated as a footbridge in the new route. The numbering of the bridges here becomes quite complex as 7 new road bridges and 3 footbridges had to be constructed - that's why you might see 5, 5A and 5AA, 6A,B and C.
